I just installed Quickbooks 2022 desktop.  I am trying to print statements and I go to customize and it shuts down the whole program.  Help

It's good to see you here in the Community, Lakewood678.

Updating the QuickBooks Desktop release version is a good start when it comes to fixing program-related issues and make sure to create a backup copy of your company file before doing so.

Here's how:

  1. Click Help at the top menu bar and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the Update Now tab. Tip: You can select the Reset Update checkbox to clear all previous update downloads.
  3. Hit Get Updates to start the download.
  4. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.Download and install automatic QuickBooks Desktop updates

Once updated, go back to your statements and print, and customize them.

In case you're still getting the same issue, you can follow the additional troubleshooting steps in this article: Fix issues when QuickBooks has stopped working.

Let me know how it goes by leaving a reply below. I need to make sure this is resolve and you're back to your normal business processing. Have a good one.

Customizing statements uses an embedded browser window instead of a standard application window.

This appears to be an issue related to the embedded browser Intuit recently wrote and included in QuickBooks updates - to replace Internet Explorer at the last possible moment, even though MS announced its end of support date over a year ago.

That new browser seems to be very error prone and causes crashes as well as the cases where buttons don't do anything and/or expected windows don't appear when trying to use various features that use browser windows.

Until Intuit fixes this mess, there probably isn't any workaround.
