Error 10601 occurs when your QuickBooks Online account is inactive or there is a cache issue due to outdated data stored in your browser, Steph.
To resolve this, ensure your QBO account is active by checking your account status under Subscription and Billing. Refer to the steps below:
- Sign in to your QBO account as Primary Admin.
- Click the Gear icon, then go to Subscription and Billing.

- Check the status if it's inactive, select Re-subscribe, and enter the updated billing info.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and click Subscribe.
If your account is active, let's perform basic troubleshooting for potential browser issues by opening your QBO account in an incognito or private window. Sometimes, corrupted cache and cookies can cause problems accessing websites or opening files.
Please refer to the following keyboard shortcuts based on your browser type:
- Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
- Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
- Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
- Safari: Command + Shift + N
If the private browsing session works, clear the browser's cache to refresh the system. This action can be performed in any supported and up-to-date browsers. Clearing the cache removes stored data and cookies that may be causing the issues, thus enabling smoother functionality.
