We appreciate you taking the time and effort when posting a detailed response, chic316860. Let me help you run specific data on your statement of activity comparison report.
As I've replicated your concern here on my end, running a Profit and Loss Comparison report requires specific customizations to ensure data are showing accurately on the report.
Since the initial default This year-to-date period was modified to This Year, yes, it would only show its reporting data for this current year. Then, you've changed it back to the default report period This year-to-date data, you'll have to ensure you've selected the Compare another period dropdown to allow reporting data comparison on your report. I can help you how to enable these customizations. You'll want to refer to the screenshots below for additional guidance.
Moreover, you'll want to memorize the data added to your reports to save current modifications made from them. It also includes insights on how to set schedules and email information for a memorized report.
We'll always be available in this forum if you have additional questions about running financial reports, chic316860. Feel free to let us know in the comments below so we can further back you up. Keep safe and have a good one!

It sounds like you might have some issues with your browser's cache. Web browsers collect cache to save time when loading repetitive data and images. Over time these files can become outdated and corrupted, causing issues like the one with your statement of activity report not showing all the data. I've included the links to all supported browsers that contain the steps to clear the cache below.
After clearing the cache, make sure to restart your browser so the changes can take effect. Once restarted, please check out your report again.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I'll be sure to keep an eye out if you continue to have any issues with the report. Take care!
i cleared the browser cache and no change. here is the interesting part. from the reports menu if i select statement of activity comparison report it uses the 'this year to date' range as the initial default report period and produces the report just fine with two data columns, this ytd and prior ytd. now if i go up and change the date selection to anything else, such as this year, and run the report it only has one dat column on the report which is this year's data. there is no prior year column. ok so now i go back and change the date period to 'this year to date' , which was the same date period as the initial default, it only produces a report with one column of this year's data. there is no prior year data column. any report i run after the initial report only shows a single column of this year's data. it does not show the second column of the prior years data.
