Where is the gear icon?

Welcome to the Community, kwill0404.

I'm here to guide you in reconciling your bank account. The Gear icon can be found at the top of the page. Take a look at my screenshot below:

After clicking the Gear icon, select Reconcile under the Tools section to start reconciling your bank and credit card accounts. This will ensure that your records in QuickBooks Online match your real-life bank and credit card statements. Here's how to do it:

  1. Click the Gear icon, then choose Reconcile.
  2. Select the account you want to reconcile.
  3. Review the beginning balance, then enter the ending balance and ending date on your statement.
  4. Double-check the last statement ending date. This is the end date of your last reconciliation. Your current bank statement should start the day after.
  5. When you're ready to start, click Start reconciling.
  6. Compare the transactions, then go over them one by one.
  7. If they match, put a checkmark next to the amount in QuickBooks. This marks it as reconciled.
  8. When you reach the end, the difference between your statement and QuickBooks should be $0.00.
  9. After that, select Finish now.

Keep me posted if you have further questions about bank reconciliation. I'm always here to help.

Where is the gear icon?

The Gear Icon is not on my screen anywhere - how do I put it on the screen so I can get to it?

Where is the gear icon?

I'd like to know what device you used to access your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, since the Gear icon for the system's general functions is always visible when you log in through a web browser and does not need to be manually enabled.

For web browser logins, the Gear icon is available in the top-right toolbar, just like in the screenshot my colleague provided above.

If it's not there, please log out of your account and sign back in using an incognito window to start fresh. This browser mode contains no historical cache data, which often causes errors like this.

If you're using the QBO mobile app, the Gear option for general functions isn't available. Instead, its equivalent feature is the Menu icon located in the lower-right corner when you log in.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
