Why are expenses and bills adding to my Class Report total rather than reducing it?

I know why your expenses and bills add to your class report total, OMPUMC. I'll discuss the details below.

The main role of class reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is to tally and group all your sales and purchases per business segment. To see your spending for a specific period, you can run and customize the Purchases by Class Detail report. However, since you want to see your net income less your expenses, you can pull up the Profit and Loss by Class report instead.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Profit and Loss by Class in the Business overview section.
  3. Customize it if necessary.

For more details about running reports to see your sales, costs, or profitability by class, please see this article: Run reports by class in QuickBooks Online.

After that, you can memorize the report to save its customization settings.

Also, if you wish to utilize your financial reports outside of QuickBooks for future reference, you can export them. You can refer to this article for guidance in performing this procedure: Export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.

Leave a comment below if you have additional questions about class reports in QBO. We'll be willing to help. Thank you, and have a good one.
