Why does it make me enter a verification code every time I log in from the same computer??? HOW DO I TURN OFF

Can I turn this off? I use the same computer every day at work and it consistently prompts me to enter a verification code every time I log in. So annoying, yet another horrible feature of this worthless and unintuitive application. How can I disable this? I've checked in my Intuit account and 2-Step Verification is already disabled. So why am I always prompted?

Why does it make me enter a verification code every time I log in from the same computer??? HOW DO I TURN OFF

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the Community for support, @emmaemmaemma.

I'm here to provide details on the login verification process for QuickBooks Online.

Protecting your data and Intuit account is easier by proving your identity. It ensures that you and you alone may access your account. However, you can select the box next to Remember my user ID if you want the system to remember your user ID and password.

Check your browser settings to prevent your history from being cleared when the browser is closed if you still need to enter your password while checking in.

Here's how:

  1. Open the Chrome browser.
  2. Click the Chrome Toolbar (3 dots to the right of the URL window)
  3. Select Settings.
  4. On the left menu, select Security and Privacy.
  5. Click on Cookies and other site data.
  6. Turn off the option Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows.

For additional information, I'm adding this article that explains more the difference between Multi-factor authentication and Two-step verification: Verify your QBO account with multi-factor authentication or two-step verification.

Feel welcome to reply if there are any additional questions about login verification. Have a great day!

Thank you for your response Ethel... the option in Chrome settings is already disabled. Is there a way to disable the multi-factor authentication or get QBO to recognize this computer that I use every single day?

Had to enter my auth code TWICE to reply to this because I timed out of QBO -_- this is getting ridiculous!

I know how you want to work in QuickBooks without having to enter the verification process. Let me guide you on how to turn off the feature, emmaemmaemma.

Intuit is committed to securing your information by providing advanced security tools and systems. However, if you want to turn off the feature, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your Intuit account.
  2. From the left menu, select Sign in & security.
  3. Select 2-step verification.
  4. Turn off the Use 2-step verification switch.
  5. Enter your account password, then select Continue.

I appreciate you for coming back to the thread to add clarification that 2-step verification is already disabled on your account, emmaemmaemma. Also, I can see how important it is not to receive any codes so that you can log in without hassle. With this, let me point you to the right support team to assist you on this matter.

I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment which we're unable to do it here in the Community. That way, they'll be able to investigate the cause of why you keep being prompted for the verification code.

Here's how to contact them:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Account.
  2. At the top right, click the Help icon.
  3. Choose the Assistant section.
  4. Type your concern in the Type something field.
  5. Click Talk to a human.
  6. Click I still need a human.
  7. Click the Get help from a human.
  8. You'll be routed into the How can we help? page. Then, select callback or how you want to contact them and fill in the information.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to see different common sign-in issues and how to fix them: Get help if you can't sign in to your account.

Let me know how else I can empower you to make QuickBooks work the way your business needs, emmaemmaemma. wishing you continued success.

Why does it make me enter a verification code every time I log in from the same computer??? HOW DO I TURN OFF

I know this is practically a year after the fact, but I found this thread when having the same issue myself.

I also had two-factor disabled, chrome settings were fine, etc, and yet all of a sudden found myself having to "verify my identity" every single time I got timed out. Once in a while is fine, expected even, but so consistently? Absolutely obnoxious.

Obviously their responses weren't very helpful, but I suddenly realized that perhaps my NordVPN was possibly at fault. It's been the reason I have had trouble going to most federally run websites (????) as well as some others, so yesterday I finally thought to add all intuit domains to my "whitelist".

Lo and behold, I turn on my computer this morning and it doesn't make me verify my identity!! After like a week of that nonsense, it was an incredibly welcome reprieve. I sincerely hope in the year since you first posted that you've figured out how to circumnavigate this annoyance, but I wanted to comment on it just in case someone like me comes along and maybe hasn't fiddled with their VPN settings. (QBO probably updated some small thing in their website security, making it not as compatible with VPNs or something.)
