Accidentally deleted reconciled credit card transactions from April, May, June 2021

Hello. I went in to reconcile a credit card and noticed transactions that didn't clear - likely duplicate transactions so I began to delete. I realized that I was accidentally deleting some reconciled transactions - major panic! My heart is still pounding. My "beginning balance" on the bank reconcile shows $1801.11. I followed a few other posts - have the "previous reconciliation discrepancy report" and the "voided/deleted transaction detail" reports. I reentered the deleted transactions, went to the chart of accounts and check marked the "reconciled" column. However, now all of these transactions are showing up on my next reconcile as cleared, the balances are all messed up. What do I do to correct this all?

Let's fix and make sure those reconciled accounts have correct balances, kattu2km.

You can start by comparing statements from your bank with what's on QuickBooks. That way, you'll be able to determine which transactions shouldn't be included in the credit card account.

You have to compare each month so you know which duplicate entries you'll need to delete. Then, undo previous reconciliations until you're able to reach April.

Here's how:

  1. Back up the QuickBooks company file.
  2. In the Begin Reconciliation window, select Undo Last Reconciliation.
  3. When prompted, select Continue then OK.
  4. Close and reopen the Begin Reconciliation window.
