Buy nowPerhaps with the 1st of the year, or thereabouts, it seems Amex transactions pulled into QBO no longer include the card holder names under the Bank Detail field. It shows the last 4, which it always had. So now I have to go into my Amex acct to cross reference who made what charges. This is nuts, it was so helpful to have the names right there. Does anybody know why this stopped?
Hi there, dirdim.
Thank you for turning to the Community for support. I'm glad to provide some info so the card holder name will show for bank downloads in QuickBooks Online.
To rule out any browser related issues, I recommend clearing the cache first. The cache is in place to store frequently used data to make loading web pages quicker and easier. If the cache becomes too full it can potentially cause certain viewing and performance errors within the system. Clearing it will remove anything that is preventing the bank details to load properly. Here's how to get this done if you're using Chrome for example:
1. At the top right, click More (three vertical dots).
2. Click More tools and then Clear browsing data.
3. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
4. Check the boxes next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files."
5. Click Clear data.
The following article provides similar steps for other browsers: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online
Please give this a try and see if the full names appear afterward. Feel free to reach back out in the comments below if you have any other questions.
I have the same problem starting a few weeks ago, this fix didn't help.
Thanks for joining the Community and getting involved with this thread, fgkhfku.
The information that comes with your online banking transactions is sent from the financial institution you're working with. I'd recommend reaching out to them to confirm if there's been any changes in what data they send with transactions when downloaded into third party programs.
I've also included a detailed resource about working with online banking which may come in handy moving forward: Connect & Review Your Banking
If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a lovely Tuesday!
Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention. I appreciate your patience regarding the American Express transactions not displaying cardholder names in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I understand how inconvenient this has been, and I'm here to provide you with the most up-to-date information.
In QBO, the importation of bank transactions relies on the information provided by your financial institution, particularly for AMEX transactions. That said, we do not have control over the data sent to us.
To address this issue, I recommend contacting AMEX support directly. They can provide more detailed information about your account status and clarify why this change might have occurred.
Additionally, you can refer to these helpful articles for guidance on the categorization and reconciliation process of your account:
I hope this information clarifies the situation and guides how to proceed. We value your business and appreciate your patience as we work towards a resolution. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reply below. We're here to assist you.
