App/Email Receipt Downloading/Matching Issues

Ok my problem is simple the receipt that is downloaded is not matched correctly. Some issues I have found:

1. if the receipt is for an even amount like $23.00 the matching cannot find the transaction since it's in the app matching as $23 and NOT $23.00 ... so it's matching text and not a number (type casting issue).
2. Even if the DATE and AMOUNT match a transaction IN the register, I need to edit the download to have the correct account, the correct vendor, etc before it will match ... then it lists ALL the matching transaction and assuming it's a reoccurring bill, the oldest is on time so I have to scroll down for the right match.

3. If it's a common vendor, which the name does not match EXACTLY in the register, I have to edit the vendor to match the SCAN, which often does not match other receipts the vendor gives ... so I have to edit the download before it will match. WHY does the app not remember the match for future downloads?

QB has been silent on fixing these .. it should be easy, and yes I do program;-)

App/Email Receipt Downloading/Matching Issues

I appreciate you sharing this limitation with us, Katy.

For now, QuickBooks will only follow the amount and information based on the receipts that were uploaded. If these don’t match your existing transactions, you can manually edit them to find a match. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to the  Vendor menu and select Receipt Management.
  2. From the For Review tab, click the Refresh icon to see your receipts.
  3. From the receipt, select the small arrow then Review.
  4. If the receipt matches the transaction, click Attach. If not, select Remove match then create a new transaction.
  5. Click OK.

I can see that editing uploaded receipts to match transactions in QuickBooks can be time-consuming. I recommend sending your feedback to our developers, as they value user input and may consider your suggestions for future updates to improve this process.

Her's how:

  1. Select the Help option.
  2. Select the Send Feedback Online option.
  3. Select the Product Suggestion option. A pop-up window displays.
  4. Enter your feedback suggestion.
  5. Click the Send Feedback button. The feedback is sent.

In addition, QuickBooks offers a ton of reports that can help you see where your company stands. You can check out the Available reports in QuickBooks Desktop section in this article to learn more about those: Understand reports.

If you have any follow-up question about matching uploaded receipts to your existing transactions, just add them to the thread. We'll be here to help.

Some other odd bugs

4. Some transactions cannot be matched, there is no attachment, so it was not accidently matched prior. Everything matches in the "check" register, but cannot be matched to the downloaded receipt.

FEATURE request, ability to match any transaction in the register.

One of the transactions cannot be found, yet it's a repeating transaction that has already been reconciled.
