Got it to work. In the app I went to “accounts” then “manage accounts” then clicked the two arrows “” top right corner to reconnect. Not sure why needed to do that but hopefully helps someone that’s having similar issue.

Bank connection issue with PayPal

Let me assist you further and ensure that you can successfully connect your account in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), @FixThis.

Begin by logging into the PayPal website to look for any system notifications, like maintenance updates, that require your attention to fix the connection issues with QuickBooks. You can also contact your bank to check if there are updates.

Moreover, since it's already been 3 days, I suggest reaching out to our Support Team to further investigate the connection issues. I'll outline the steps to reach them below.

  1. Log in to your QBSE account.
  2. In the upper right corner go to the Help icon.
  3. Click Contact Us.

For detailed reference, check this article: Get help with QuickBooks products and services

In the meantime, you can check this article to manually import your transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please note that once you reconnect you might get duplicate transactions. To fix this you can exclude the duplicate entries.

I'll also include this article to help you categorize your transactions you downloaded from your bank: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed

Should you need more guidance with your bank connection troubles, just drop your reply here, and I'll be on it.

Bank connection issue with PayPal

Logged into PayPal and did not see anything pertaining to the issue. If I try to delete it in QB and re-add will it mess up any already managed transactions? Meaning will I have to re-do everything or no?

Bank connection issue with PayPal

Thank you for logging into your PayPal account to check for any ongoing issues related to your concern. I can see how important it is to ensure everything is running smoothly.

In addition to that, I recommend reaching out to PayPal support to confirm if there are any ongoing problems. The screenshot you shared indicates "PayPal (retired)," suggesting that your PayPal account is no longer active or in use.

If there are no issues on their end, please contact support QuickBooks Online Support Team. They have the tools necessary to investigate this further.

To answer your question, yes, if you choose to delete your bank institution in QuickBooks, it will remove all your transactions as well, requiring you to redo everything. For that reason, I'd suggest waiting until this issue is resolved.

In the meantime, you can manually add your transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed to keep your account updated.

Once the issue is resolved, you may want to check out this article for guidance on preparing for tax season: QuickBooks Self-Employed Annual Tax Guide.

If you encounter any further challenges or have additional questions regarding QuickBooks Self-Employed, please keep me updated. We're here to help you navigate through this.

Oddly it always would say “retired” even when everything worked. To test I tried adding the same PayPal account without deleting, and got this message.
