Bank Feed: Capital One Card Services Not Working

I have Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2020 standalone version, and I just found that it it does not come with technical support. Hence, I am here.

My bank feed for Capital One card service (I have a capital one credit card) was working just fine until a couple of days ago. When I tried to use the bank feed, it said I need to deactivate the capital one account and reactivate it. Credentials have not changed on my capital one card since I can still log into the capital one website with the same credentials with success. I also have a Chase account in bank feed which continues to work find.

When I tried to add the capital one card service, QB immediate takes me to the window for instructions to download the transaction manually. Please help if you know how to fix the issue.

To get technical support from QB, they want me to pay $299.99. I have nothing good to say about that.

Bank Feed: Capital One Card Services Not Working

Let me help share how you can connect your bank feeds account, @Bimmer32.

With the latest updates, the Capital One account is now connected to the banking feeds via express web connect. This is the reason why you're asked to deactivate and reactivate your account to start a new integration. Let me walk you through the steps on how to accomplish this.

First off, let's create a backup copy of your company file first and make sure to download and install the latest released version of QuickBooks. Once done, here's how you're able to disconnect an account to the online banking:

  1. Go to Lists.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Right-click the account you want to deactivate.
  4. Click Edit Account.
  5. Under Bank Settings, select Deactivate all online services.
  6. Select OK.
  7. Click Save & Close.

From here, connect back your account and download your online transactions via the new connection. Follow the steps in this article to do so: How to Use Express Web Connect Online Banking with Certain Accounts in QuickBooks Desktop?

I'm also adding this reference outlining the steps you can utilize once you start reviewing your online transactions: How to Add and Match Bank Feed Transactions in QuickBooks Desktop?

Do you have more questions about your online banking account or any other tasks in QuickBooks? Let me know in the comments and I'll help you out. Take care and stay safe!

Bank Feed: Capital One Card Services Not Working

Thank you for the reply. I read and reread your detailed post. I believe that I was already using Express web connect. I disabled Bank Feed for the Capital One Card Services (I have Spark Business Card). I followed the instruction on "How to use Express Web Online . . . " No luck.

Basically, in the Bank Feed window, I enter my Bank:, I selected "Capital One Card Services." Immediately, the manual instruction window pops up. Now if I started over and chose "Chase" or "Citi Card", then I can get to the next screen that will allow me to either direct connect (Chase) or "Connect to Citi Card." But for Capital One Card Services, I get the "how to manually download" window and the only option is Close button.

My Quickbooks 2020 is R12P, and I verified that all updates are installed. Is there a text file or some file that I can download into the QB directory to get the latest Bank Feed services. I have Quickbooks on another computer that I recently installed, and I get the same result.

Bank Feed: Capital One Card Services Not Working

I think I have the issue resolved. Prior to this issue, I was already using Bank Feed and pressing the "Download Transaction" button. Whether that was for direct connect or express web connect online, I was not sure.

The resolution is when I click the small "Next" link in the initial bank feed window, I was able to see additional "Capital one . . . " entries. I choose "Capital One Credit Cards" and that allowed me to proceed successfully. Thank you for your help.
