Buy nowIs there a way to make QB recognize the vendor payments on the banking tab? I use Bill.com through my QB account, and for some reason, despite every transaction having the vendors name in it on the banking transactions, it doesn't match them, and still will make suggestions that the payment belongs to someone else. Does the date that I enter on the bill have some impact on it? I have tried creating rules for it, but then the transactions end up being duplicated because QB categorizes the vendor bill payments as 1099 contract labor as I have it set, so if I also add the banking transactions via a rule, it will add each one as a separate expense. I want the vendor payments to be matched to the banking transactions without having to manually match every single one individually. Is there a way to do this?
Hi there, Gabbie1.
I'm here to share more information about recording expenses.
When you pay bills with Online Bill Pay, QuickBooks lets you review the information. Thus, you'll have to categorize the payment manually.
Here's how:
I've included this article as your guide in managing bill and bill payments:
I'm just around if you have concerns about recording transactions.
Thank you for the response! That option only allows me to update the Vendor Name and Address, add a Memo, and update a notification email for the vendor. I'm not sure that any of those options will resolve my issue.
What I am trying to accomplish is the categorization of banking transactions. Specifically the banking transactions that are automatically loaded from my bank, in to Quickbooks. Every bill payment shows up there because it is in my bank records. My options are to "Match" them so that they will link up with the bill payment that is entered in QB. But the issue is that I have 20-30 bills per week that are paid to vendors and when I am reconciling my expenses (in banking) they all appear in my "for review" tab. I would like for them to automatically Match/Categorize so I dont have to manually match each and every single one.
But I have tried setting up a rule for each vendor but then QB will end up duplicating them as an expense + bill payment (accts payable).
These transactions show up as Vendor name, payment ID, Company name, "Bill.com", Payables, The vendors Bill.com P #, etc. Should I just exclude these transactions all together? That may be my only option. I dont want to do that, but it seems that may be the only way to not have to categorize one by one.
Thank you!
