Can I create a .txf file using QBO so I can import the data into turbotax desk top? Using a Mac ?

Dude @KlentB, I don't think your Product Development team is listening to you nor your customers

Both @AldrinS  on 01-28-2019 07:26 AM and @Rose-A on 01-29-2019 01:57 PM said the same thing more than a year ago and still no answer

Is both funny and frustrating how Intuit is among the few companies for which their own top products have no compatibility at all, with no valid excuse

That tells a lot how much you listen to your customers and how you lack of vision. Integration is the name of the game when it comes to software, is one of the main selling points. You're not only missing the opportunity to listen to your customers, but to also capitalize from it

Go to intuit.com and the very first thing you see on the top left, right below the url address is what you see on my picture attached here

Thanks for joining us in this thread, Bobby-O.

We'd really want to make sure that you're able to send your data over to TurboTax and file your taxes from there.

We're you able to import the file but was applied to the wrong company? If so, please contact our TurboTax support so they can double-check on the imported file.

Here's the link where you can reach out to them: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/turbotax-support/help/03/313.

Please reach out to us again or reply below if you need anything else when working in QuickBooks.

IT'S ALL DUE TO GREED FOR MORE MONEY & PROFIT.  THEY DON'T ALLOW QUICKBOOKS TO CREATE A TXF FILE TO TRANSFER TO TURBOTAX BECAUSE OTHERWISE THE BUSINESS FOR ACCOUNTANTS, CPA WOULD BE OUT OF THE JOB.  THAT BUSINESS WOULD COLLAPSE.  YEARS AGO, THERE WAS A PERSON WHO CREATED A MORE SIMPLE WAY TO PAY TAXES AND AT THE END NOT TO WORRY TO FILE TAXES DUE IN APRIL.  THIS WAS SHOT DOWN DUE TO BIG COMPANIES PAYING JUDGES & ATTORNEYS TO NOT HEAR THE CASES.  Click the following links to see… ‘H&R Block, TurboTax Accused Of Obstructing Access To Free Tax Filing’

I just want to add my agreement to the amazing lack of insight from Intuit. If Intuit can't offer a solution, I will be looking for different accounting and tax software in the future. I have wasted too many valuable and expensive hours with QBO. You have cost me a fortune!

This is going on for 3 years now, how is it I pay $27 a month for $324 QBO and another $80-$100 year for TubroTax Home and Business for $400-425 a year and they don't integrate when it is the same company!?! Honestly, it's like Apple saying they offer Cloud service but segments to where only 1 type of cloud works for phone, another cloud only works for iPads, another for Macs and none allow you to get info to the other.

I completely agree, this process has gotten outrageous. It's 2020, why there isn't a seamless integration between quickbooks online and turbotax is beyond me. I've been trying to resolve this issue for 2 days, and the whole export data using only internet explorer is absurd. Microsoft doesn't even use internet explorer anymore, they've gone to microsoft edge. Get with the year Quickbooks cause I'm looking at moving to a new service cause of this. It's blowing my mind that this is even a thing...

This is outrageous! I am trying to get a jump start on tax season to find out you can not import QuickBooks Online to TurboTax! WTF!

Then I would follow the "Setup the Desktop trial version method" and import Quickbooks Online to Quick Books desktop. Guess What? You can only do it by exporting individual reports, converting, tweaking, and then importing them into the Desktop version. If that works, you have to trust that exporting from the Online version to the Desktop version works. Then trust that the Export from the Desktop version to TurboTax will work. I don't trust Intuit for that to work. So I guess we are all left to manual input.

Adding myself to this list of very dissatisfied customers. First attempt at using TurboTax instead of their competitor and that was a waste of time and money.

Get it right Intuit, this is absolutely ridiculous that it hasn't been fixed to read directly from your main product: QB Online!

Yeah same problem.  turbo tax, an intuit product, can't import from QB, another intuit product.  How worthless is that?  Garbage products and total time waster.  Might as well use a pencil.

I just spent $79 to buy TurboTax Home and Business from Amazon. And I can't import my tax info from TurboTax Self-employed.

How can you ignore this for two YEARS???

Don't you even think about compatibility between your different products???

This is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS!

I know every penny counts when running a business, @julieteaston.

Making sure you can do your QuickBooks tasks seamlessly is our priority. However, the option to create a .txt file in QuickBooks so you can import your data to TurboTax is unavailable. As a workaround, you can look for a third-party app to convert your QuickBooks data to a .txt file. Let me guide you on how:

  1. Head to the QuickBooks App store at this link.
  2. From the search box, enter any keyword.
  3. Then, press the Enter key on your keyboard.

Once everything is set, please see this article to guide with importing QuickBooks file to TurboTax: How do I import QuickBooks data into TurboTax Business?

I also recommend reaching out to the TurboTax support team to further assist you with the import. They can be able to pull up your account in a secure place and help you upload the file.

Should you need any resources that you can bookmark or save for future use? You can always found it here on our QuickBooks Help articles page. Simply type a keyword or phrases of your concern on the search field or select any of the categories displayed to start browsing.

Reply from Rose-A in Jan 2019: "I can definitely see how this feature would be useful. As a team with a massive roadmap, we have to pick new features based on the value they’ll add to the most users possible."

I understand the need to prioritize tasks for maximum benefit. What percentage of QBO users need to also file taxes? (Rhetorical). How SHOULD we be maximizing the benefit of QBO data at tax time?

The Tax Exchange Format (TXF) has been around since 1991 (source) and was intended for just this purpose - moving your data from one program/platform to another. Although it is dated (outdated?) there is no good replacement available and its exclusion from QBO seems like more than just an oversight.

In my case, I want QBO to export data in TXF format so I can import to H&R Block Tax software, a non-Intuit product. The data is mine, I should be able to do this using a 20 year old standard without obstruction.

The only help I am getting from QBO this tax season is helping me to consider my alternatives before next tax season. My experience with QBO support has been a nightmare (multiple other issues) so I am frustrated but not surprised by the headaches of this latest obstacle.

I know this is a late add, but OMG Intuit is AWFUL!  I started a business last year and chose QBO for my bookkeeping because, silly me, I assumed Intuit would be able to integrate within it's products and I've used Turbo Tax for years.  Clearly I need to reevaluate my options moving forward.  Intuit obviously has no interest in the customer experience.  And I tried to get help...but nothing.  I got an email with some links to articles I'd already found on my own and when I tried to reply to the email...surprise!...invalid email address!  WTH, I can't believe that in this day and age a company has absolutely NO interest in addressing what is obviously a recurring, constant pain point for their customers.  I hope everyone starts boycotting this company so that maybe they'll get a clue.
