Can I import transactions from a credit card for the statement prior to the downloading via qb? I have a Stmt that has 20 transactions but only came over as Opening bal.

Should I just post the detail for each transaction and then delete the "opening equity" transaction?

Hello there, @c0pcar

I'm glad you've reached out to us.

In QuickBooks, it's always a good idea to wait for the connected bank or credit card account to download its transactions rather than importing them. That way, we can prevent duplicate transactions.

If you need to delete the opening balance of your account, you can do so by following the steps below:

  1. Click the Gear Ico., then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Choose the correct account, then click View register
  3. On the filter icon, click the drop-down arrow and type in Opening balance
  4. Click Apply, and if it shows up, click it.
  5. Next, Click Edit
  6. On the deposit transaction screen, click More at the bottom and choose Delete.
  7. Click Yes.

Should you need to recreate the opening balance, you can use a journal entry

For future reference, you can visit this article for information on how to fix beginning balance issues during your first reconciliation in QuickBooks Online.

Get back to me if you need more assistance. I'll be there to help you again.

Thank you so much for your assistance.  I have imported the one statement that was missing and now have everything reconciled.   Sharon
