Connecting to a Bank of America account successfully processes in QB and at BoA but never shows in QB Manage Accounts section, even after refresh and logout. How to fix?

This unusual banking feature behavior of the QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) system is likely caused by a browser-related issue, so let's work together to troubleshoot and fix this, semiconducted.

Let's start by pulling up your QuickBooks Self-Employed account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, go to the Manage accounts section to check if the Bank of America account shows up.

If you're able to do so, return to your default browser and clear its cache (Though the article is for QuickBooks Online (QBO), it's also relevant to QBSE). After that, log out and then log back into your account. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performance issues.

However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers (Though the article is for QBO, it's also applicable to QBSE).

Additionally, when your transactions are downloaded, categorize them to ensure your financial records are correct.

You can always get back to this thread if you have other banking concerns or questions about managing your self-employed transactions in QBSE. We in the Community are always ready to help you out.

I followed ALL of the instructions above to no avail.

QB Self-Employed shows my Chase bank accounts but not Bank of America. Clicking the "Refresh all" button refreshes Chase accounts but BoA is never mentioned in the 'processing' graphic nor shows in the list upon completion.

macOS Sonoma 14.3.1 (23D60)

Safari Version 17.3.1 (19617.2.4.11.12):

  • opened private browsing, logged in > "Manage accounts" > "Refresh all" = same results
  • removed ALL history, cleared cache, shut down Safari
  • restarted computer, launched Safari, opened QB Self-Employed > "Sign in" > "Manage accounts" > "Refresh all" = same results

Google Chrome Version 122.0.6261.112 (Official Build) (x86_64):

  • "Clear browsing data" : removed ALL history, cache, cookies, etc., shut down Chrome
  • launched Chrome, opened QB Self-Employed > "Sign in" > "Manage accounts" > "Refresh all" = same results

Thanks for following up with the Community, semiconducted. I appreciate you performing Rea_M's recommended troubleshooting steps.

Since one of your connected accounts still isn't displaying properly on the Bank accounts screen, I'd initially using a different device and/or internet connection.

If it continues happening on other devices and internet connections, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

They can be reached while you're signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use your Help (?) option.

  2. Choose Contact us.

  3. In the Ask a question (or tell us what's wrong) field, explain what you're reaching out about.

  4. Click Continue.

  5. Select Start a Chat or Talk to a specialist.

Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.

I've also included a detailed resource about system requirements for QuickBooks which may come in handy moving forward: System requirements

I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have a great Friday!
