Covert Vendor to Other

I need to change companies I have labeled as Vendor to Other, like gas stations etc. Right clicking on vendor does not bring Delete as an option in Desktop for Mac. Edit Vendor will allow you to make Vendor inactive but then you can not use the company name and label as Other because the name still exists in the Vendor list. Is there k

Covert Vendor to Other

Glad to see you in the Community, llawnrock.

Let me share some information about managing vendors in the desktop version.

When you use the same name for your supplier, QuickBooks will prompt you name is already in use. However, you can append a letter or number to differentiate it from the existing name.

I’m adding a link that lists all processes you can perform in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. It outlines the instructions on how to update a vendor’s information.

To view the complete details, check out the QB Little Square site and proceed directly to page 130.

If there’s anything else I can help you with, let me know by posting a comment below. I’ll get back to assist further. Have a good one.

Covert Vendor to Other

While working through my first downloaded bank statement I mistakenly chose Vendor for a gas station charge that should be categorized as "Other". I am trying to figure out how to change the label from Vendor to Other.

Covert Vendor to Other

Good day, llawnrock,

Let's undo the acceptance of the transaction from the Reviewed tab. Then, edit the category in the Review tab. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reviewed tab on the Banking page.
  2. Locate and check the boxes for the transactions you want to edit.
  3. Click the Undo button under the Action column. You can also find the Undo button at the top of the Date column for multiple selections.

All Undo transactions are now moved back to the For Review section. You can now edit the category from there.

  1. In the For Review tab, locate and select the transaction to open it.
  2. Select the Category or Match drop-down list and select the new category from the list.
  3. Select Add to accept the new category and add the transaction.

For your future reference, you can also read this article about categorizing transactions: Assign, Categorize, Edit, and Add your Downloaded Banking Transactions.
