Credit card error when linking another

Screen Shot 2025-03-27 at 1.26.38 PM.pngCredit card 3009 and 1002 are two separate credit card accounts under my name however they are using the same login on American Express's website.

I am trying to link both credit cards however once I link one, the other is no longer linked.

What am I doing wrong?

How are you today? I hope all is well. 

 

You can attach one American Express Business login to your QuickBooks company. But you can connect as many accounts to that login as you'd like.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Transactions, then Bank Transactions.
  2. Click on Link account.
  3. Search for and select "American Express Credit Card (US) - Parent Accounts."
  4. Follow the onscreen steps until QuickBooks asks you about downloading past transactions. You have two ways to handle past transactions. We recommend the first method since it's much easier.

I want to make sure you're able to connect to your American Express Business account in QuickBooks Online.

 

Since the steps mentioned by my colleague above didn't do the trick, I recommend reaching out to a member of the QuickBooks Online Support Team. Agents have specialized tools, like the ability to share your screen, to take a closer look at what's causing the problem and why you're unable to see the correct American Express option. Here's how to get in touch with the team:

 

1. Click the Help (?) button.
2. Select either tab to get started:
  - Assistant: Get quick, personalized answers. Select a suggested option, or type a question or topic you need help with. If you decide you need further help, you can still Talk to a human.
  - Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
    a. Start a chat with a support expert.
    b. Get a callback from the next available expert.
