Does any one have a solution to the error message they get when trying to upload an csv file from their computer?

Hello there, @iqdagenius.

To begin with, could you kindly share exactly what you're attempting to upload? Are you working with Bank Transactions, Invoices, Journal Entries, or something else? Also, could you provide the exact error message you're encountering when trying to upload a CSV file? This way, I can provide an accurate resolution to your concerns.

If you’re referring to bank data, make sure to check that the date format is correct, there are no missing required columns, and that negative amounts are properly formatted. To make the mapping stage easier, you can do the following:

  1. Delete columns you do not need from your CSV to avoid any confusion. The columns that are required by QuickBooks are:
    • Date
    • Description
    • Amount
  2. Change the names of the columns in your CSV to match the titles in QuickBooks.

For more information on formatting and account type requirements, refer to this article: Common errors for importing bank transactions using CSV.

If your issue is related to something other than bank data, please provide additional details so I can assist you properly.

Also, consider checking out our QuickBooks Live Expert Assisted team. They can help you upload your CSV file and manage your transactions.

We’re always here to help you if you have any other concerns.

I'm sorry for being so vague and not home to give the specifics but my bank (Brex) isn't in the auto populated box to add. So I was trying to import the transaction data in a csv file. When I try to upload it by browsing for the file on my computer. It doesn't acknowledge it and just gives an error.

I'll be home in a little bit to give you the specific error message. Thank you for the reply.

Not a problem, @iqdagenius. We're always here and ready to assist you once you're available to share the exact error message you encounter. I’d like to share some additional details to ensure your file imports successfully into QuickBooks Online.

When importing a file into QuickBooks Online (QBO), it’s important to ensure the file meets its formatting requirements to avoid any errors during the process. As QBO only accepts files in the proper format.

If your file is saved as an Excel file, I recommend opening it and saving it as a .CSV format, as Excel files cannot be imported into QBO.
