Does anyone have issues with American Express credit card transactions occasionally not syncing/missing in QuickBooks?

Every month or so, we will have a couple of transactions that are missing from QuickBooks but hit our American Express card (maybe posting delays?). Rather than manually adding them each time I wondered if anyone else has encountered this issue and how they resolved it.

Please know that QuickBooks relies on the transactions provided by your bank, @caitlin22.

Most banks update transactions in QuickBooks every 24 hours. Missing transactions in QuickBooks Online can be due to delays from the bank. To ensure all entries are up to date, you can manually refresh your bank transactions in QBO. Here's how:

  1. In your QuickBooks, go to Accounting.
  2. Click Bank transactions.
  3. From there, hit Update.

You can also visit your bank or credit card's website to see if there are any maintenance updates, notifications, or alerts that might be causing delays. For any issues, consider contacting your bank's support team for assistance.

We have determined that the issue is that if an American Express charge is "authorized" when placing the order, but not "charged" until the order ships, Amex uses the authorization date rather than the charge date.   So, when QBO is bringing in transactions, they are looking for anything AFTER a certain date, so the backdated charges do not sync correctly.  This is a constant issue with a few of our vendors - it is an Amex issue.
