I am using QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020.
I have been using Bank Feeds for several years to link my bank account transactions (credit cards and checking account) with Bank of America.
Previously, I was using "Bank of America - All other states" but changed to "Bank of America - New" around the end of September 2022 because of messages stating that the old way would be retired in mid October 2022.
I have been linking my accounts successfully as recently as the day before yesterday.
This morning, my credit cards download transactions as normal, but the checking account produces the following error message:
Looks like we didn't find the right type of account to link. That sign-in info was correct, but we can only connect certain types of accounts. You can try a different bank. (2106) |
I deactivated Bank Feeds for the account and then reconnected it. During the setup process, it shows the checking account as expected, but still produces the same error message when I click "Download Transactions".
Notably, it looks like it did update the account balance shown on the Bank Feeds page for the account, but it isn't downloading the transactions.
Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community, McLaneDental. Let me discuss details on why your Bank of America isn't downloading the transactions. Then, ensure you'll be routed to the right support team to assist you further on this matter in order to get the most up-to-date information.
The issue about being unable to download or missing transactions when trying to download from Bank of America is tagged as ongoing. Rest assured that our engineers are working to identify the cause of this issue and continue to partner with Bank of America to get this fully resolved.
For now, if your bank offers Web Connect, you can use it as a workaround. This way, you can download a file (.QBO) with your company's transactions from your bank or credit card. Then you import that file to QuickBooks to add those transactions to your accounts. You may open this article to see the steps on how to perform the process: Set up or edit bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.
Then, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team, so they can add you to our notification list. This will help our engineers determine the number of affected users. You'll also receive an update through email once this has been resolved.
Here's how:
Lastly, you may refer to this article to see steps on how you can review your downloaded entries so you can categorize them to avoid double transactions: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please know that you're always welcome to post if you have any other concerns about connecting your bank or transactions. I'm always here to help. Wishing you and your business continued success, McLaneDental.
Same issue with me. 2 hours into tech support with no progress. Yesterday's R6 Update messed this up. Cannot connect to BAnk of AMerica web connect or express connect.
I am facing the same exact issue. Its been working fine and since last couple of days QB stopped downloading transactions from Bank of America, but connects fine and no error (Bank of America - New connection)
Many users complained that yesterday in the forum. But now this morning I tried again to see if the issue is fixed, but now I am getting this error when I tried to download from checking account
"Looks like we didn't find the right type of account to link.
That sign-in info was correct, but we can only connect certain types of accounts. You can try a different bank. (2106)"
I deactivated bank feed and re-activated it again and still the same issue
Update: I'm not sure what happened on the backend, but today it is working again as expected.
Same. Started working fine yesterday. There was no software update that I know of, which leads me to believe that it was on B of A's side. I wish someone knew this from the start and would just tell us. Ugh.

It's that time of year again! November 3rd and updated to the latest version 2024 Enterprise and Bank of America is the only one not working with a bank feeds. I would have to say at this point this is a QB problem and not a bank back end problem. Please fix this immediately. This is for the Bank of america- new account that will not sync and still says transaction completed but nothing has downloaded or synced.
I can see the urgency of this matter, and I want to ensure this is taken care of immediately for you to download your bank transactions in QuickBooks Desktop, Homegrown_Phenom.
Upon checking our records, we have an ongoing investigation where Bank of America bank transactions were not downloaded are some of them are missing. Rest assured that our engineering team is aware and they're in all hands working to fix this as soon as possible.

I received the same error but with using Chase Bank (All) - New. I have had no issues downloading bank feeds through yesterday. I download transactions from both checking accounts and multiple credit card accounts. The only issue I repeatedly have is the system crashes nearly daily when I am posting the bank feed transactions.
I am on QB Premier Plus Edition 2023 using Multi-User with the Admin on Desktop.
Why is this error popping up today?
Chase user here as well receiving the same issue today!

To verify my understanding, what year of QuickBooks are you using?
In the meantime, I'd recommend troubleshooting your error by disconnecting the account, then reconnecting it.

I'll be looking forward to your reply. Have a lovely Wednesday!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I *THOUGHT* Bank of America was no longer supporting or doing WebConnect. I have to go to my B of A website, and account, download current transactions there, to my desktop, and then separately in my QuickBooks, I have to import the Webconnect file.
Many more steps, but maybe it's been fixed since I originally posted some long time ago?
I'm using Desktop version Pro Plus 2023.
Hello there, @Petiezee.
I'll share troubleshooting steps to help you connect your bank account with QuickBooks to help you manage your transactions accordingly.
The WebConnect is supported by your institution as long as you have a supported version of QuickBooks. It will also depend on your bank if they provide you with the file.
On the other hand, please know that the investigation concerning bank feeds is already closed. If you're still unable to connect with your bank, proceed to these steps below:
Once you still can't download your transactions, create a dummy account and connect your bank account by opening a sample file.
If you can download your transactions, please proceed to your original company and verify and rebuild your data to fix issues in your company file.
However, if the issue persists upon creating your dummy file, you have to repair the damaged data. Utilize this article as your reference: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
Moreover, you might also want to review this resource to help you fix errors when using bank feeds: Fix OL and OLSU Bank Feeds errors in QuickBooks Desktop.
