I'm trying to record the cash to close on a loan. The entry needs to include:
- payoff of a prior mortgage
- interest payment
- bank fees
- closing costs (capitalized)
- origination of the new construction loan
I think I've entered everything correctly but quickbooks is giving me an error stating "Please choose a category for all the lines with amounts"
Am I doing anything wrong here, or is quickbooks not able to record this much activity in one entry?

Glad to see you in the Community, @CedarBooks. I can share some fixes to help you get back on track with recording the loan payment in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
I've replicated your concern and saw no issues with it. Looking at the error message and your screenshot, I can see that you've entered the category and the amount. In this case, I recommend troubleshooting the browser you're using.
Below is the replicated transaction I've made for your reference:
The browser troubleshooting method can eliminate any data issues and fix the unusual errors on the sites you are using. You can begin with doing the split process using an incognito browser. It will avoid saving data that can result in an error.
If it works without any issues, you can go back to the regular browser and clear the cache. Below are the shortcut keys to access a private window:
An alternative way is to use another browser. If it's still the same, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. They have the tools to verify the issue and do a screen share with you for documentation. They will also create an investigation after the assessment if needed.
Moreover, you can check out this article about managing monthly financials assessment in QBO: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online. It also contains tips on fixing any pop-up issues during this process.
I'll be around if you have questions about the troubleshooting steps I've shared or any QuickBooks-related questions. You can also share an update with your concern here. I want to ensure you're back on track. Take care always!
