Good morning, @RSVP1947.
It's great having you here in the QuickBooks Community. Thanks for sharing your concerns.
I took a look at our back end to see if we had any ongoing investigations for this issue, and I wasn't able to locate one. With that said, let's try some basic troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve this matter as quickly as possible.
First, you'll want to start off by clearing your browsers cache. Web browsers collect cache to save time when loading repetitive data and images. Over time these files can become outdated and corrupted, causing issues like the one with your missing classes. I've gone ahead and included the links for all supported browsers that contain the steps to clear the cache below.
After clearing the cache, please make sure to restart your browser so the changes can take effect.
If you still notice that the classes are missing, I recommend checking your audit log to see if another user may have accidently deleted the class. QuickBooks Online will not remove any data unless requested. You can use the link I've included below to learn more about using the Audit Log.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I'm always around to lend a hand. Take care!
I tried all of the things suggested, but the class is missing completely. This is a mystery to me because I've NEVER been able to delete a class -- only deactivate. This looks as if it was never created, and I am just so confused as to what happened!
Am I wrong in thinking that if I HAD accidently tried to delete, it would still show up as inactive???

Thank you for trying the steps provided by my colleague above in locating this missing class, @RSVP1947.
You can delete a class by making it inactive. This can't be deleted permanently. However, you'll find it inactive from the Class lists under the All Lists option from the Gear icon. You can easily restore it by following the steps below:
Refer to the following article for more information about adding, deleting, and restoring a deleted class: Create and manage classes in QuickBooks Online.
If you can't find it, try to check your Audit Log. The class name has likely changed. Here are the steps:
See this guide for detailed information about what can you see in the audit log: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.
To check your sales performance, business spending, profitability, transactions, and balances by class in other reports, refer to this article for more information: Run reports by class.
Stay in touch if you need further help looking for this missing class. I'm always here to assist. Have a great rest of the day!
Today I processed payroll in 2023 Pro Plus Desktop for the first time. I am missing classes for my "Other Payroll" additions to payroll for employee reimbursements. No class was assigned to any of the employee reimbursements for the 10/14/22 payroll. In addition some random previous payroll transactions also lost their Class. I spent hours on the phone with Quickbooks and nothing.
