Has checking account twice. Need to delete one

I'll help you delete duplicate checking accounts in QuickBooks, @dawsonproagency

Deleting duplicate accounts is just a few clicks, and you'll be an expert in no time!

If you're referring to your checking chart of account, you can make that inactive. QuickBooks hides inactive accounts from lists and menus but keeps past transactions on your reports. Please note that some accounts require extra steps before you can make them inactive:

Once confirmed, follow the steps below on how to make the account inactive:

  1. Go to Settings and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the duplicate checking that you want to delete.
  3. Select the Action drop-down list and click Make inactive.

To see your inactive accounts, check this link for more details: Make an account inactive on your chart of accounts in QuickBooks.

However, if you're referring to your checking bank accounts, I'd recommend disconnecting the duplicate one. Before that, ensure to add and match all the pending transactions on the Banking page. Please note that disconnecting the automatic online banking updates will delete any transactions in the For Review tab.

Further, check out these articles on how to reconcile and manage a chart of accounts in QuickBooks:

If you have any other concerns with QuickBooks, please let me know. I'm happy to help you again, dawsonproagency. Take care!

Has checking account twice. Need to delete one

quickbooks support team - how can it be possible to link the same account twice?  I am having the same problem, my "income" is duplicated since the same exact business checking account is in there twice.    The balance is the same for both, but the number of transactions 'to review" is different.  From a user perspective, why would the product set up allow an obvious duplicate?  Why would coding one transaction not pass thru to the duplicate, while the income does?    If this went to the IRS it would appear I made double and need to pay double taxes due to this error.

I will try to "inactivate" one of the dups and hope that solves it.  Product feedback for dev team for future reference.  Thank you.
