Hello, how do I link an AMEX card (main 1 employee card) and reconcile both accounts under one statement?

I previously linked the main account and began reconciling, when I then realized the difference of the reconciliation was the transactions from the employee card. I then also linked the employee card which the transactions were imported in QB, but how do I reconcile this month when both accounts show on one credit card statement?

I'll help you in reconciling your accounts, Anonymous-1.

Before connecting to your bank or credit card account, it's recommended to check your bank sends your transactions. If the transactions are downloaded to the main account, you'll only need to connect the main account. If the transactions are downloaded to the individual accounts, connect the subaccounts and not the parent account.

In this case, you'll have to set the employee card as the subaccount of the AMEX card. This way, you'll only need to reconcile the parent account since all transactions in the subaccount roll up into it. Here's how:

  1. Select Accounting from the sidebar menu.
  2. Go to Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find the employee card account, then click the drop-down arrow in the Action column.
  4. Choose Edit, then select Is sub-account and enter the parent account.
  5. Click Save and Close.

Additionally, here are some articles that you can read to help keep your QuickBooks accounts balanced and up-to-date:

Keep me posted if you need more help in managing your bank transactions. I'll always have your back.
