How can I import Parent Customer for a list of Customers I would like to import into QuickBooks?

That I can import Customer and have it linked to Parent Customer at same time, instead of having to manually go into each Customer and edit the Parent Customer.

How can I import Parent Customer for a list of Customers I would like to import into QuickBooks?

The ability to import Parent customers to a list of customers is unavailable in QuickBooks Online.

We appreciate your interest in this feature and recognize its importance in streamlining your accounting processes. For now, you'll need to manually adjust the parent customer for each customer, which can be time-consuming, especially when dealing with large volumes.

I encourage submitting a feature request for this functionality directly to our development team. They actively consider customer suggestions when planning future updates and enhancements to QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

For additional reference, I've included this article that you can check: How to add a customer or sub-customer

Furthermore, I've included a couple of resources about working with customer invoices and recording their payments that may come in handy moving forward:

If you have further questions about managing customers or require assistance with any other task of QuickBooks, please don't hesitate to add them below. I'll be here to lend a hand.

How can I import Parent Customer for a list of Customers I would like to import into QuickBooks?

Hi @tg-taxoa-com

I know it is not supported in QuickBooks Online to specify the Parent Customer when importing into the Customer list but you can do that if you use one of the data import utilities that you can find in the Intuit App Marketplace like Zed Axis (desktop edition).

In particular when it comes to Customers with multiple levels you can import up to five levels deep for example

Parent:Customer:Job:Sub Job:Sub Job

There is a 30 day free trial you can download and test this out if you need.  Hope that gives you solution.
