How can I un-split a transaction

Thank you for posting here in the Community, @saradarce.

Let me help you un-split a transaction in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Here’s how.

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. Look for the transaction you want to un-split.
  3. Click the Split icon.
  4. On the Split transaction window, select the Trash can icon beside the category you want to remove.
  5. Then, click Save.

You can also use this article if you wanted to Exclude or delete transactions. This is useful for reimbursements, returned purchases, and duplicate transactions in QuickBooks Online. Exclude transactions.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to leave a comment below. Take care!

How can I un-split a transaction

Actually, there was no "split" option, which was part of the problem..

I had to "add rule," delete one of the line items I wanted to change, then proceed to amend/save.

Thanks for jumping on to help!

How can I un-split a transaction

Thanks for coming back, saradarce.

I appreciate you for coming up with a workaround by adding a rule to the Split Transaction in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). If you're trying to split the Income transactions for both Income and Spending (vice versa), then that option is unavailable.

However, you'll see the Split button on the Transactions page under the Type column (as mentioned by my colleague). If that option is unavailable, we can try accessing your account using a private or incognito window. This helps us better isolate if this is a browser issue or not and it turns off extensions or add-ons that interfere with QBSE.

Here's how you can access private browser:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Then, try splitting the transaction again.

For the step and details, check out this article: Split and Exclude Transactions

If it works, clear your browser's cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. Overtime collection of data can create corruption, but removing this should fix the issue. You can also use other supported browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

I'm just one post away if you need a hand with categorizing your transactions in QBSE. I'll be here to ensure your success. Have a great day ahead.
