How can I unlink my bank account from my QuickBooks account?

Not everything that happens in my bank account is business related and I don’t want every transaction showing up because then it’s delete, delete, delete and I do not have time for that.

How can I unlink my bank account from my QuickBooks account?

Hi @aand319,

I appreciate you for reaching out to us here in the Community. I can help you unlink the bank account in QuickBooks Online.

When you connect an account, the data that downloads depends on your bank. Since the transactions download automatically to the For Review tab, the only option is to exclude and delete.

To disconnect the account, you can follow these steps:

  1. On the left navigation bar, hover your cursor to Banking menu or Transactions menu and choose Banking.
  2. Select your bank account.
  3. Click the pencil ✎ icon, then press Edit account info.
  4. Put a checkmark on the Disconnect this account on save checkbox.
  5. Hit Save and Close.

You can also check this article for more details about uploading bank transactions, like the supported file format and how to upload the data for accounts not linked to QuickBooks: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Drop me a comment below if you have any other questions related to QuickBooks Banking or importing data. I'll be happy to help you some more.

@aand319

Once you disconnected your bank feeds, explore SlickConnect. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed.

How can I unlink my bank account from my QuickBooks account?

Hello, I unlinked my personal bank account but the transactions still live in EXPENSES. How do I remove these expenses? Do I have to delete one by one?

Thanks for joining the thread, Lighthouse24. I can assist you with removing your transactions all at once.

Instead of deleting transactions one by one, we can remove them altogether under your Expenses account.  Let me guide you on how:

  1. Go to Transactions, and then Bank Transactions.
  2. Under All Transactions change the filter to show the appropriate account.
  3. Select the transactions you want to remove and then click Exclude.
  4. After this, go to the Excluded tab.
  5. Select the multiple transactions we just excluded and click on Delete.

For future reference, feel free to check this article to learn how to match downloaded bank and credit card transactions, put them in the correct accounts, and avoid duplicates: Match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any more queries regarding transactions or any other QuickBooks-related matters, feel free to reply to this thread. I'll be more than happy to assist you further. Keep safe.
