Hi there, @jshayneo-gmail-c.

Adding a bank account that will show in the Banking tab is a breeze. I'm here to guide you in doing that.

You'll need to connect your bank to online banking so it will show up under the Banking page. This way, your transaction will be downloaded in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and you can categorize them smoothly.

To do that:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Refer to the Banking tab.
  3. Select select Add account.
  4. Search for your bank.
  5. Click on Continue. Enter the username and password you use for your bank's website in the window.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to connect. Your bank may require additional security checks. It may take a few minutes to connect.
  7. Select the bank or credit card accounts you want to connect (savings, current, or credit card).
  8. Choose the matching account type from the dropdowns.
  9. Select how far back you want to download transactions.
  10. Click on Connect.

For complete details about this process, you can always refer to this link: Learn how to add your bank and credit card accounts to automatically download recent transactions.

After that, you can now start categorizing the downloaded bank transactions in QBO. In case you'll encounter issues while managing bank entries, this article got your back in fixing them: Learn what to do if you see error messages or don't see recently downloaded bank transactions.

Should you have any questions, please post a comment, and I'll be happy to help. Wishing you all the best.

I have this same issue, however I can't link the credit card because it's not supported with QuickBooks. Is there a way to add it to the banking tab without having to "connect" it to the online banking?

Hi Ruthphps,

I'm here to share more information about adding a bank account to the Banking tab.

As my colleague shared above, your bank account will only show on the Banking tab once you connect it. Unconnected accounts will display on the Chart of accounts page.

Also, can you tell me the name of your credit card account? So. I can verify if it's supported by QuickBooks.

Once the transactions are already on your QuickBooks account, you can categorize them. Here's an article as your guide: Categorize transactions.

I'm just a post-away whenever you need help with the categorization process.
