How do I clean up my transactions that are being duplicated, example transaction from main checking and a transaction saying cash-being the same?

Welcome to the Community, Compton.

To address duplicate transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed, we can either exclude downloaded transactions from your bank or delete any manually added transactions. Excluded transactions will not be included in tax calculations or financial reports. Let me give you more information and outline the steps below.

Excluding a transaction can be done by:

  1. Going to the Transactions menu.
  2. Finding the transaction you want to exclude and select it to expand the view.
  3. Selecting the Exclude this transaction checkbox.
  4. Clicking Save.

After excluding, the transactions will be kept in the system but will be removed it from your financial calculations.

Now, let's move on to how to delete transactions:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. Find the transaction you want to delete and select it to expand the view.
  3. Choose Delete.

Bear in mind that we can't delete transactions downloaded from your bank, however we can exclude them.

For comprehensive guidance about this topic, we can refer to these articles:

We can also check out this article on how to categorize the transactions you download from your bank or enter into QuickBooks: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

If you have further questions about neaten your transactions, feel free to reach out. We'll offer continuous assistance. Have a great day ahead.
