I appreciate the steps you took to delete an erroneous account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).By default, an account becomes unavailable as an option for creating transactions when it is deactivated. Moreover, there is no provision for directly deleting an account, as this could inadvertently lead to the erasure of transaction history. Let me suggest some options since the deactivated account still appears on your end.
First, ensure that the account is deactivated and check for similar names in the account list. If the account has already been deactivated, the account will automatically be marked as deleted. Here's how to do it:
- Go to the Chart of accounts.
- Next to the printer icon, select the Settings icon, then check Include inactive.
- Find the inactive account, and It will be marked with (deleted).
Next, I also recommend reviewing the audit log to verify any changes made to the deactivated accounts. One possible situation to look at is that some users may have reactivated them.
If the issue persists, you may open your account in your browser's incognito mode and carry out browser troubleshooting measures.
