How do I easily connect my bank account to my QuickBooks online account? Mine keeps saying that an existing QuickBooks account is already linked, but it’s not.

I have a Self-Employed account that I want to cancel and am trying to set up an online account so I can link my Square and bank account. My bank account is not attached to it currently. However, the new Online account says I can’t connect. It’s also told me multiple times I can’t do that because my subscription isn’t active even though it is.

Allow me to take care of your concern today, missbeckman85-gm.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you're unable to connect both the parent accounts and their subaccounts. The message you're getting happens when you connect a parent credit card account and its sub-accounts That said, you'll need to verify with your bank as to which bank account downloads the transactions.

Once verified, you can follow the steps below on how to create a sub-account:

  1. Go to Accounting, then choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click New or find the bank from your register. Click Edit.

  3. Choose the Account and Detail types, then enter the desired name.
  4. Select the Is sub-account box, then choose the parent account.
  5. Click Save and Close
