How do I fix the problem of having a question mark inside the account names?

I am in a "Make Deposits" tab. My account lists have a question mark in their names (ex. 10100? Cash). This is preventing me from closing the window.

I know how to resolve it, jinha-kim.

 

Let's re-sort your Chart of Accounts to fix it. You can follow these steps:

  1. Go to Lists menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Place a check-mark in the Include Inactive.
  3. Click on Account drop-down and select Re-sort List.
  4. Hit OK to confirm.COA List.PNG

     

We also need to make sure that your company file isn't damage. Let's run the Verify and Rebuild Data to check any company file issues.

  1. Click on the File menu. Hover your cursor to the Utilities and select Verify Data.
  2. QuickBooks will scan your file to see the cause of the error.
  3. Select File menu again.
  4. Go to Utilities and select Rebuild Data.

Hi AlexV,

 

I just check marked "Include Inactive" and pressed "re-sort my list" on Chart of Accounts tab, however, it only resort the list and did not remove the question marks in account names.

 

I also verified data as you told me so, however, non of the files were damaged.

  1. On your QuickBooks homepage, go to the Help menu.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Tap the Contact us button.
