Buy now & saveThe info that QuickBooks provides in response to this question isn't helpful unless you can find the accounting menu, which I can't
@Edward-McCrea From what I've seen of similar posts on here, you'll need an accountant version of QBO to undo a reconciliation; I would assume you do not have that, and this is why you can't find the accounting menu.
The usual advice is to either unreconcile the transactions one at a time, or reach out to an accountant who does have the version and can reach over to your books to do it for you.
I can totally relate to feeling a little overwhelmed, especially when it comes to managing your accounts, Edward. This guide is here to help you at your own pace, making it easier for you to undo a reconciliation.
When it comes to undoing a reconciliation, you have a couple of options:
1. Unreconcile Individual Transactions: If it’s just a single transaction that needs a correction, you can remove it from a completed reconciliation one step at a time.
2. Accountant Assistance: If you need to completely restart the reconciliation process, you can contact your accountant, who can undo the entire reconciliation in one step. Please note that this option is only available if your subscription includes QuickBooks Online Accountant. This could also explain why you’re unable to see the Accounting menu.
Here's how to undo the reconciliation:
1. Go to Settings ⚙, then click Chart of accounts.
2. Find the account that has the reconciled transaction. Then click View register.
3. Locate the transaction. A reconciled transaction will have an R in the checkmark ✔ column.
4. Select the transaction to expand the view.
5. In the checkmark ✔ column, click the box containing the R until it is blank. This action will remove the transaction from the reconciliation.
6. Repeat the process for any other transactions you wish to unreconcile.
7. Finally, click Save.
By following these steps, you can effectively manage your reconciliations and maintain the accuracy of your accounts.
Additionally, here is an article that serves as a guide for printing and viewing your reconciliation report: How do I view, print, or export a reconciliation report?
Thank you for any updates you can share regarding the reconciliation of accounts in QBO. We truly value your effort and want you to know that we are here to support you every step of the way. Take care and reach out whenever you need assistance.
