How do you delete an account you created? There is no "delete" option that I can find?

I got you covered, @usersunnierpalms. I can help you delete an account in QuickBooks.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can delete an account by making it inactive. QuickBooks makes accounts inactive instead of deleting them, so you can access past transaction data for reporting purposes.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate the account you want to delete.
  3. Click the Action dropdown and choose Make inactive.
  4. Then, hit Yes to confirm.

In addition, check out these articles about making your account active again and find out which default accounts you can delete, edit, or merge:

Furthermore, you can visit this link for future reference in handling accounts so it always matches your bank and credit card statements: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to reach out in this thread if you need more help with managing your accounts. I'd love to assist you further.

I no longer need my quickbuicks account but it keeps popping up on my taxes. How can I disconnect the two and make the QB go away?

Hi there, Discogypsy.

To start, could you please provide more details about your concern? This way, i can offer a more targeted solution. I'd like to clarify what you meant by the statement "popping up on my taxes." Are you referring to disconnecting the QuickBooks Online (QBO) account from a tax software? However, if you meant something else, please feel free to add them below.

Furthermore, I will provide this article to assist you in understanding the important considerations when closing a QBO account. What happens to my QuickBooks Online data after I cancel?.

Any additional information would help me address your concerns better. We'll be keeping a close eye on your response.

Popping up....when I'm trying to do my taxes it says I need to complete a specific form because I'm showing to have my own business, and I do not. I was consulting a few years back but no longer do so and do not use qb online for any reason any more.

I no longer consult and do not use qb online anymore. The tax software indicates I need to complete a form because it show's I have a small business, but I do not. I need that to go away. I do not need access to qb online anymore.

I appreciate your reply, @discogypsy. I'll guide you on how to cancel your subscription with us.

The steps for canceling QuickBooks Online (QBO) depend on where you signed up for your subscription. If you purchased directly from Intuit, you can follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Intuit Account Manager.
  2. Select Products & Billing, then select your company name. This takes you to your subscription page.
  3. Find the product you wish to cancel, then select Cancel.
  4. You'll see a multiple-choice survey on why you're canceling your subscription. Once you've filled it out, click Continue to cancel.
  5. From there, you'll see a page that details product benefits and the last day you can use your subscription. Select Continue to cancel.
  6. You'll see a pop-up confirming your subscription is canceled. Click Got it.

If you've signed up through a mobile app store, go to your app store to cancel. This article can guide you through the process: Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription or trial.

Otherwise, if you're unable to access your QBO, you can directly reach out to our Customer Support Team by clicking this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/help/en-us/contact-us.

Moreover, I'll add this resource that you can read to learn more about what happens to your data after canceling: What happens to my QuickBooks Online data after I cancel?

Thank you for the opportunity to be part of your business. If you have other queries with QBO, don't hesitate to add them to your reply. Wishing you continued success.
