How do you fix reconciliation discrepancies for a beginning balance?

Hello, April.

I'll drop a solution to help you fix the beginning balance discrepancies on your bank account.

Recreating the transaction on a reconciled period won't correct the beginning balance.

So, what we're going to do to is to manually reconcile the re-entered transaction (or item). This would correct the beginning balance and allow us to reconcile the next period.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to your Chart of Accounts, then locate the bank account in question.
  2. Click the View register link.
  3. Find the re-entered transaction and select it.
  4. On the check mark column, click the C or the blank box until an R appears (indicating this is reconciled).
  5. Hit Save.

We would want to go back to the reconciliation page, then review the beginning balance. Once everything is correct, we would want to enter the correct ending balance and reconcile the next period.

I'll share these articles if you need more help with the reconciliation processes and corrections:
