How to download bank statemts

Let's perform some steps so you can download bank statements to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), @williamsbookkeep.

First, you'll have to check which transactions are already in the program. This helps you avoid any duplicates. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to Transactions from the left menu.
  2. Choose the account you plan to upload transactions into.from the Account: All drop-down.
  3. From the Date drop-down menu, select All.
  4. To sort the list by date, click the Date column header.
  5. Take note of the oldest transaction date in the account.

Second, export your transactions from your bank. Here's how:

  1. Log in to your bank's website.
  2. Follow your bank’s instructions to download your transactions as a CSV file.
  3. Set the date range.
  4. Follow any on-screen instructions to finish the download.

Third, import the transactions to the program. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Settings (Gear) icon at the upper right.
  2. Select Imports.
  3. Choose the account.
  4. Click Browse and find the file you downloaded from your bank.
  5. Select the file and click Open.
  6. Make sure the Date, Description, and Amount columns on the file match the columns and order in QuickBooks.
  7. Click Continue to complete the import process.

Fourth, go back to the Transactions tab and review the imported transactions. For more information, see the Review what you imported section through this article: Add Older Transactions to QBSE

Once downloaded, you can categorize and edit the transactions. This ensures your financial records are accurate. For more details, check out this article: Categorizing Transactions

In case you want to automatically download your bank transactions, I'd suggest connecting your account. This lets you skip manual data entry since the program categorizes the transactions for you. To learn more about this process, visit this article: Connect Bank and Credit Card Accounts

I'll be right here to help if you need anything else. Have a good day, @williamsbookkeep.
