Join nowI had to transfer our QBO to a new QBO account. All the bank transactions transferred but none of the reconciliations did. So now I have years of unreconciled transactions and a starting balance of zero. How cam I re-reconcile years of transactions, and set a new starting balance? Thank you!
I can help you reconcile you transactions, Hull Girl.
When starting fresh with QuickBooks, we'll have to enter the bank's balance and reconcile the transactions again to accurately manage your books. You'll need your bank statement to make sure they match your bank and credit card statements. Also, I can help you run reconciliation reports as your basis on what transactions you reconciled within the given period.
Here's how:
If you want to simultaneously work with your QBO account, I recommend opening the other account through a regular browser and the other through a private (incognito) or different browser. This way, you won't get kicked out of the system.
Feel free to use these links to help you reconcile and manage your bank accounts.
I'm just around the corner to keep an eye on your reply if you have other questions. Take care!
Thanks for your reply (and the tip about using an incognito window!). How do I change the opening balance on the new account to be the closing balance from the old account? On the new account, all the transactions (years worth) came in, but they are all marked C. How can I make all of them R (except the ones that came in after the transfer)?
Thanks!
Thanks for getting back to us, @Hull Girl.
Let me take it from here and help you in reconciling your account in QuickBooks Online.
You can edit the opening balance of your new accounts by editing its amount through the View register. Here's how:
In addition, transactions that were marked as C in your register are considered as cleared. If you wish to change their status, simply follow these steps:
I also added a link to give more insights about unreconciling transactions. I recommend consulting with your accountant before performing any of the steps. This is to ensure your records are in order.
Reach out to me directly if you have additional questions about working in QBO. I'm here to answer them for you. Have a good one.
Hello, Let me make sure I am understanding you correctly. When I view the register, there are 51 pages of transactions. All of them are unreconciled and uncleared, except for a few that came in the past few days and are C.
When I go all the way back to the first entry, there is already a journal entry with a beginning balance. This was from 2016 when we first started using QBO. I don't think that is the balance you want me to change?
But when I try to reconcile, the Beginning balance is 0.
How do I get the Opening balance to be the Closing balance of the previous month? Thanks!
OK...I clicked on one entry and changed it from Unreconciled/Uncleared to R, and that changed the opening balance. So, I guess the real question is....how do I change 51 pages of transactions to R? (Without clicking a lot!) Thanks!
Hello, Hull Girl.
I can help enter and edit your beginning balance when reconciling an account for the first time in your new QBO account. Most beginning balance issues are actually caused by an incorrect opening balance. This is the account's starting point you set when you first created it in QuickBooks. You can check out this link for more detail on how to manually enter an opening balance so your accounts stay balanced.
For you not to manually reconcile each transaction on your new account, you can go back to the process of reconciling the account. Here's how:
You can use this link for more details in reconciling your accounts: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
Keep me posted if you have other questions in handling your bank accounts. I'll be more glad to help. Take care!
