I uploaded a transaction that should be a withdraw but its showing as a deposit. how do I make the correction?

I'll share some guidelines to help you get through this.

If you have uploaded a transaction in QuickBooks Online and it's showing as a deposit when it should be a withdrawal (or vice versa), you can correct this by editing the transaction. Here are the steps to make the correction:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Navigate to the Banking menu or Banking Center, where you initially uploaded the transaction.
  3. In the Banking Center, find and select the transaction that needs correction. It should be listed in your bank feed or under the Categorized section.
  4. Click Undo.
  5. Go back to the For Review section and select the transaction.
  6. In the editing window, you'll have the option to change the transaction type. If it's currently a deposit and should be a withdrawal (or vice versa), switch accordingly.
  7. Change the transaction type from Deposit to Withdrawal or Expense, depending on the nature of the transaction.
  8. Make sure to update any other details that need correction, such as the date, payee, or amount.
  9. After making the necessary changes, click Save to update the transaction.
  10. Double-check that the transaction appears correctly in your account register or transaction history.

If any transaction in the future has already been added to your accounts before you realized the error, editing it as described above will correct the entry. QuickBooks will automatically update your financial statements and reports to reflect the corrected transaction.

Remember to review your transactions periodically to catch and correct any errors promptly. It helps ensure your financial records in QuickBooks are accurate.
