Im getting this Invalid Reference Id : An item in this transaction is set up as a category instead of a product or service.

I've got a way to help you resolve the error message you encountered in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Umesh.

In QBO, this error arises when an item matches the name of an existing category. To resolve this, I suggest modifying the category's name.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Products and Services.
  2. Click the More dropdown, then Manage Categories.
  3. Find the category and click Edit under the Action column.
  4. Make changes to the category's name in the Name field, then Save.

If the issue persists, we have a dedicated team that manages error codes and API integrations. That said, I recommend visiting our Intuit Developer website to seek assistance and resolve this issue with other developers or software engineers.

Moreover, you can utilize inventory reports in QBO to view important information on the products you buy and sell.

We'll be happy to entertain additional questions about resolving the error message you encountered in QBO. Just leave your reply below and we'll chime in to answer your queries. Stay safe.
