Import payroll transactions into quickbooks desktop?

QuickBooks Online Core, Premium, or Elite Standalone Payroll can export the data in a form of an IIF file. However, it only supports QuickBooks Desktop for Windows for now. You can follow the steps here: Export into QuickBooks Online or Desktop from Core, Premium, or Elite Standalone Payroll.

For the QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, you may export the data into an Excel file. Then, you can manually edit it to create an IIF file or use a third-party app converter so you can import it to your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Follow these steps on how to export the data.

Paychecks:

1. Go to the Payroll menu. From the Overview tab, and select View paycheck list.
2. Set the Date range from the Filter.
3. Click the Share button and select Export to Excel.

Tax payments:

1. Go to the Payroll tax menu and select Tax payment history.
2. Select the Date Range, then click Run Report.
3. Click the Share button and select Export to Excel.

Hello, 

I need to import payroll from a software my company uses into quickbooks. But the export I have does not calculate overtime it only gives time punch line items. 

If I import that data is there a way where quickbooks will separate that time? If so what do I need to do? Also what is the best import set up?
