Importing Banking Transactions

I have tried on numerous occasions to get Online Banking set up in QB Desktop for Mac. When I go to import transactions, it doesn’t allow me to select any of the files that have been downloaded. I can’t control the type of file my bank sends. What am I supposed to do?

Importing Banking Transactions

Hey there, @JonesAdventureRentals.

Hope you've had a great week. QuickBooks for macOS currently support .QBO files (Web Connect). I recommend asking your bank if they can generate that type of file. Once you have the file, you can import it super easily. Check it out:

  1. From the File menu, go to Import.
  2. Click From Web Connect.
  3. Select the account you'd like to import the transactions to and hit Continue.

That's it! If you'd like to connect directly to your bank, I recommend checking out: Set up and use Online Banking (Mac)

Hit the Reply button and I'll be here if you have any other questions. Have a great weekend!

I have the same issue.  My bank does not use Web connect and the import files are .csv, not QBO.  I would convert the files if I could see a way to do that via Quickbooks, but it appears you have to buy a converter program for that!

If you're outside of QuickBooks Desktop

1- Open a web browser and go to your bank's website.
2- Sign into your bank account using your normal process.
3- Download your transactions as a QuickBooks Web Connect (. QBO) file. ...
4- Once you have the Web Connect file, follow the steps to import it into QuickBooks Desktop.
