Is anyone else having trouble sorting in the bank register by payee?

When I try to sort by payee (they show up in the drop down menu) , I don't have the option to hit apply and then sort.

Is anyone else having trouble sorting in the bank register by payee?

Good evening, @jeff140.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community for support. I hope you're enjoying the day so far. I'm happy to lend a hand with sorting your bank register by payee.

When sorting your register, you can click on the payee dropdown arrow to sort them in alphabetical order or filter the register by payee. You can see some examples in my screenshots I've included below.

To sort by alphabetical order:

To filter by payee:

Please let me know if yours is doing something different instead. I'll be here every step of the way.

In the meantime, check out Find, review, and edit transactions in account registers for more details about sorting.

Feel free to reach out to the Community at any time. We're always around to lend a hand. Take care!

I am having a similar issue in the Bank Transactions section...I try to sort by the "Bank Detail" column and it basically appears in a random order no matter whether it is ascending or descending.  It's definitely a bug in their software because when I choose to export the same list to excel, the data in the "Bank Detail" column sorts correctly without issues.  Someone at Intuit want to earn the monthly subscription and fix this bug for us?

Why would you not put a sort button on the bank transactions page also?   you hae it there if its a pending transaction but not for one that is posted.  In pending you can sort every column but not in posted.   That is maddening.  Can you guys work on putting that in there?

I understand how important this feature is for ease of use and efficiency in your business, Bud23.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), when you're working with transactions, such as those on the bank transactions page, sorting allows you to categorize the transactions in a way that's easier to analyse. For instance, you can sort transactions either in ascending order or descending order, depending on the column you're focusing on, such as DateBank DescriptionsSpentReceived, or Transaction Posted.

For more information, you can check this article about sorting and reordering the list of transactions: Find, review, and edit transactions in account registers in QuickBooks Online.

Also, it might be beneficial to consult with a qualified accounting professional or reach out to a QuickBooks Live Expert Assisted service.
