While trying to reconcile a bank statement in my QB Desktop, there is a deposit on my bank statement but it’s not showing in QB. Is this Undeposited Funds and how do I fix it?

Is deposit undeposited?

Create the deposit in QuickBooks to match what happened in the real world.

The money could be from Undepositied Funds if you recorded it that way, as customer AR payments, or it could be from somewhere else.

I'm joining this thread to provide steps on how you can record it, Jsimons3. The transactions not appearing in QuickBooks might be located within the Undeposited Funds account.

As suggested by BigRedConsulting, you can use the Make Deposits feature located in the Banking menu in QuickBooks to accurately record the real-world deposit transaction. This helps you effectively manage the data in your bank statement.

Here's how you can do it:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Pick Make Deposits.
  3. In the Payments to Deposit window, tick the payments you want to deposit. Make sure to review your bank statement before doing so.
  4. Then, OK.
  5. Select the Deposit To dropdown field and opt for the relevant bank account where you intend to make the deposit.
  6. Hit Save & Close.

After you've accurately recorded the deposit, proceed with the reconciliation process. Make sure to match the deposit on the statement with the corresponding entry in QuickBooks.

Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions about the reconciliation process. I'm here to assist you at any time. Stay well and take care.

Is deposit undeposited?

I have a deposit that was posted to the wrong checking account (wrong customer). It was discovered while reconciling the accounts. What journal entry can be done? The correction was made by the bank in the next month.  I will need to do entries for the account it was supposed to be deposited into as well. Thank you

Is deposit undeposited?

I did all that & one deposit is showing up on my checking account, but the other one is not. These are 2 Zelle payments that were deposited on the same day

Is deposit undeposited?

There are a few common reasons the deposit is not showing in your checking account, @DebbieK61.

May I know if these are deposits coming from your bank? If it's from your bank, QuickBooks is dependent on the information provided by your bank. If the deposit isn't showing up, please double-check that the missing payment was successfully processed through Zelle.

Next, we can check the Bank Feeds to see if these deposits are imported from your bank. Here's how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Bank Feeds, then Bank Feeds Center.
  3. Click Transaction List.
  4. Filter the Status, Type, or Date to locate the missing payment.

If the deposit is still missing, confirm the deposit into the Checking account register. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to Banking.
  2. Choose Usage Register.
  3. Select Checking Account, then Ok.
  4. Locate and sort them by Date, Type, Number/Ref.

If the deposit isn't showing there, the other deposit might be associated with a different account. You can view your other accounts again by checking the Use Register located in the Banking menu. If you find it in another account, you can edit it to move it to your Checking account.

If Zelle payments are made within QuickBooks, they may be in the Undeposited Funds. To transfer these to your Checking account, create a bank deposit.
