Let me share details about splitting transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), @tsilicato. This way, you can effectively monitor your business' income and expenses.

Currently, there isn't an option to split manually entered transactions in QBSE. However, you may either manually import or connect your bank account to perform the process.

Once imported and/or downloaded, you'll have to split your transactions while categorizing them from the Transactions menu. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. Find the transaction you want to split.
  3. Select Split from the Type column.

I've attached a screenshot below for your reference.

When you categorize, QuickBooks organizes your transactions and puts them on the correct line of your Schedule C form/report. This way, you're able to submit the right amount of self-employed taxes to the agency. You can refer to this article to learn more about it: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed. It also includes details about income and expense categories in QBSE.

Let me know if you have other concerns about splitting and managing manually added transactions in QBSE. I'm just around to help. Take care always.

Thanks for the reply. I do currently use the import function for certain external accounts but from time to time I use a different account although rarely. This is one of those instances and did not want to add that account. Maybe it is a feature Quickbooks could add? To be able to split a manually entered transaction.

Thanks for coming back to this thread, tsilicato.

I understand how convenient to have this feature in QuickBooks Self-Employed, especially if you have a lot of transactions that need to be categorized into multiple categories.

Please know that the enhancements we roll out are mostly based on the suggestions and ideas we get from users like you. That said, I encourage sending feedback to our product developers to help improve your experience in QuickBooks. Here's how:

  2. Enter "submit feedback" in the search bar.
  3. Click the Add a feature button.
  4. Enter the new features you would like us to add (splitting manually added transactions).
  5. Choose Yes to complete the process.

In addition, here are some articles that you can browse to help manage your business and personal transactions in the program:
