Matching Downloaded Bank Transactions

I'm using Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2023.  It's a real PIA to match my downloaded transactions since I have to manually add 80 percent of them right now.  I researched this and found several articles and videos referencing the ability to use different matching modes, and being able to setup match rules.

My Bank Feeds screen (screenshot attached) doesn't have any area where I can setup rules or select different preferences.  What am I missing?

I know the possible reason why your bank feeds screen doesn't have an area where you can set up rules, AITAL. I'll also enlighten you on where you can select different preferences.

Based on the screenshot you provided, you're in Classic Mode. It's the reason why the rule button doesn't show up. You'll need to be in Express Mode or Advanced Mode for it to be visible and use this functionality. I'll add visual references below for your convenience.

Here's how to edit your preferences and enable rules in your Bank Feeds Center:

  1. Click Edit and choose Preferences

  2. Select Checking. Then, tap the Company Preferences tab.
  3. In the BANK FEEDS section, tick either Express Mode or Advanced Mode.
  4. You can Create rules automatically and Always ask before creating a rule. Just tick the checkbox before it.
  5. Hit OK. Then, Go to Banking.

  6. Click Bank Feeds and then Bank Feeds Center. You'll now have the Rules button on the upper left.
  7. Click the Rules button to start creating rules.

Yes, this was the fix.  Thank you.  I'm still working on understanding the automated rules thing, it hasn't asked me to review any, but it does seem to be entering them correctly except for missing names on a lot of them.

I'm new at my company had to clear a long list of auto-created rules that were entering credit card transactions incorrectly. Now I'm creating new rules and wondering if there's any way I can print the list of rules I've created so I can review them with someone else?

Hi there, @alex_nj. I can see the advantage of having the functionality to print the list of rules you've created.

Currently, this functionality is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop. I understand how beneficial this is for your business, so I recommend sending feedback to our product development team.

To send feedback:

  1. Hover to the Help menu.
  2. Select the Send Feedback Online option.
  3. Choose the Product Suggestion, and a pop-up window will appear.
  4. Type your feedback suggestion in the space provided.
  5. Click the Send Feedback button.

Your ideas and suggestions will be carefully reviewed and may be considered for future updates.

In the meantime, you can take a screenshot of your list of rules as an alternative solution. You can also explore our QuickBooks Desktop Marketplace to look for an available app that offers this functionality.

Furthermore, it's essential to reconcile your account regularly to ensure the balance of your account matches your real-life bank statement.

You can tap the reply button to enter your queries whenever you require assistance with QuickBooks-related concerns, specifically with the rules feature. I'm always here to help in any way.
