Buy now & savei have payments that I've made a few days ago and now they've showed up in my bank transactions to "match". do i just click match? how do i properly do that so it doesn't guess and incorrectly match?
QuickBooks offers a feature that helps you match transactions accurately by suggesting potential matches for you to approve, @EG25. These suggested matches are transactions that are either the same amount and occur on the same date as the recorded transaction or take place within a 90-day period before and a 20-day period after the transaction date. Lets delve deeper into this.
When QuickBooks highlights these matches, it could be an indication of duplicate transactions. In such cases, it's essential to review these transactions and compare them with your bank statement to determine if they are indeed the same. If they are, you'll then have to approve them. Here’s how:
1. From the Bank transactions page, look for the (#) matches found.
2. Click on the transaction to view more details.
3. Review the Suggested matches for any possible matching transactions already recorded in QuickBooks.
4. Select the link next to each match to view more specifics. Ensure that the match is accurate. If the provided matches seem incorrect, you’ll need to select Find other matches and match manually.
5. If a match is confirmed to be correct, select it, and then click Match.
Once a match is confirmed, QuickBooks will move the transaction under the Categorized tab. If you need to make changes, you can review the transaction there and select Undo. This action will move them back to the For review tab for further examination.
Additionally, you have the option to set up rules that will automatically categorize transactions for you. The more you utilize these bank rules in QuickBooks, the more proficient it becomes at categorization. Over time, QuickBooks can even begin to automatically scan transactions and fill in additional details such as payees.
