Missing bank transactions

Desktop Pro Plus

I have three linked accounts and have downloaded  transactions with no problem for years....Synced accounts yesterday and it hooked up and "synced". Two accounts only had one transaction each (expected) but my main account had no transactions. (expected about 30-40). Tried downloading a few more times with nothing.  I know there should be transactions after going to banks website.

Today I tried syncing again and there was now a transaction list but only for the past two days of transactions.

So I now a a few week gap of missing transactions.........

(called QB help and the young lady on the line wasn't very confidence instilling. She was eating something while talking and had kids screaming in the background)

Missing bank transactions

I can see how hard you tried here, @drprm1. No worries, I'm here to make sure you'll be able to download all your bank transactions into QuickBooks Desktop.

First off, would you mind if I ask what bank are you currently using? This way, I'll be able to look at our records here if we happen to receive similar reports about your bank. Any additional information will be much appreciated.

While waiting for your reply, we can perform some troubleshooting steps that I've narrowed down for you.

First, let's initiate a reconnection between your bank and QuickBooks. This will help us reestablish the downloading of transactions.

Here's how you can do it:

  1. In your QBDT account, select Bank Feeds.
  2. Hover over Bank Feeds then select Bank Feed Center
  3. Hit on the refresh icon.

Additionally, I'd suggest making sure that you haven't created a bank rule that keeps the transactions from being added.

  1. Go to the Banking menu then select Bank Feeds.
  2. Select Bank Feeds Center then choose Rules.
  3. Look for the rule that might be triggering the issue.
  4. You can choose either Edit Rule or Delete Rule.

Moreover, I've included an article that you can always use as your reference to make sure that your real-life bank amounts match your credit card statements: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks

Feel free to utilize the comment section below if you need additional assistance in bringing your bank transactions into QuickBooks Desktop. I'll be sure to get back to you. Have a wonderful day.

Let's make sure all transactions are downloading from your bank, Drp.

Sometimes, it takes a few days between when you initiate a transaction and when it clears your bank. It won't download until it clears your bank. However, if this is an issue, you can download a file (.QBO) with your company's transaction from your bank or credit card. Then, import that file to Quickbooks to add those transactions to your accounts. Here's how:

  1. From Banking, select Bank Feeds, then Import Web Connect Files.
  2. Select the .QBO file you saved, then select Open.
  3. When asked to select your bank account:
    • Use a QuickBooks account that exists if the account you're importing transactions into is already set up in QuickBooks.
    • Create a new QuickBooks account if the account you're importing transactions into isn't in QuickBooks yet. Learn how to create an account.
  4. Select Continue. You'll see a dialog box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks. Select OK.
  5. Go to the Bank Feeds Center to review your transactions.

To give you more details on how to download bank feed transactions and import them in QuickBooks, go through this article for more details: Set Up Or Edit Bank Accounts For Bank Feeds In QuickBooks Desktop.

Furthermore, learn the three bank feed modes available and how QuickBooks makes a match to your transactions. I've added this article for reference: Add And Match Bank Feed Transactions In QuickBooks Desktop.

You can always post your reply below if you have further questions about missing or downloaded transactions. I'm always right here to help you anytime.

Missing bank transactions

I have synced this account with my bank and it shows about 60 transactions. I have not matched these transactions so far because I had read that once transactions for a certain date range have been downloaded it will not go back and fetch earlier transactions.....In looking at my bank account it seems that it didn't download any transactions for about a month.

Worked on phone with support and he was stumped. Said he needed to research further and call me back but he never called.

Would like to add missing transactions in the easiest way possible (of course) and it is looking like doing it manually might be next

Thanks for following up with the Community, drprm1.

When you first connect an account using Direct Connect, QuickBooks automatically downloads the maximum number of transactions available from your bank. Depending on the financial institution, this can give you up to a year of historical transactions, however, some banks may only download 90 days of history.

When using Web Connect to download data from an account, some banks let their customers set a date range for their downloads. If your bank doesn't offer this option, you automatically get the maximum number of transactions available the first time you download. This can 30, 60, 90 days, or more, depending on your financial institution.

If you'd like to import transactions manually, you can find detailed steps for doing so in MariaSoledadG's post.

You'll also be able to find many detailed resources about using QuickBooks in our help article archives.

Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome Tuesday!

Missing bank transactions

So your saying I can download a date range of transactions from my bank using webconnect and then import this web connect file into QB???

If so after its imported into QB does it show up in the bank feeds transaction list so I can add/approve them like I usually do?

Would this be easier (without problems like duplicates etc) than simply downloading a file of the missing date range transactions from my  bank and manually entering them?

Since there is no date for a resolution to this maybe I better put the missing transactions in another way...Could I download a QBO file for the affected date range then import it to QB?

Saw something that said you could not do this and import it to a QB acct that has an active bank feed connection???

I appreciate you for coming back to the thread and adding clarification about downloading entries in QuickBooks Desktop, drprm1. Yes, you can download a QBO file for the affected date range and then import it to QBDT. Let me provide additional insight into this so you can view all your updated bank data on the program.

Please know that you can still manually import your data to the QBDT account that has an active bank feed connection. However, this can cause duplicate transactions on your end once the connection is fixed. In this case, I recommend making sure that you won't add the entries again on the program or you can exclude them in QuickBooks to avoid double data.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Banking menu at the top.
  2. Choose Bank Feeds and Bank Feeds Center.
  3. Select the specific bank and click the Transaction List button.
  4. Choose the entry that you want to remove by putting checkmark.
  5. Click the drop-down arrow under the Action column and choose Ignore.

In case you need steps on how to reconcile accounts so they always match your bank and credit card statements, you can open this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have other concerns related to bank transactions in QBDT, don't hesitate to mention my name in the comment section below. I'll do everything in my power to help you, drprm1. Take care.

Missing bank transactions

I had two deposits that did not sync back in sept 2023 so I tried the download version of the date range and when I went to open it -QB said it does not have a online account to link transaction to and to make a new one.   the account I have synced is the one I need the transactions linked to.  I did deposit in desktop but when I synced they never came thru.

There is over a $5K difference in the bank balance and the quickbooks bank balance. I believe it has something to do with these particular transactions.  I use sync on desktop premier plus 2021.

Missing bank transactions

Hello there, Tanar.

Before anything else, did you sync these transactions using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Premier Plus 2021? Since they never showed, consider manually importing those missing transactions to have them available inside your company. It'll be our pleasure to write down the steps below:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Desktop company.
  2. Go to Banking menu.
  3. Select Bank Feeds then select Banking Center.
  4. Find your bank and select Download Transactions. This opens a browser window to your bank's website.
  5. Sign in to your bank's website to download the Web Connect file.

It's best to check this handy article for further details about the process: Download bank feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

After manually importing the missing transactions, you'll want to add and match them to fix the $5K difference in your bank balance inside the program. Refer to this article for more details about the process: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

We're also adding these handy articles to help you reconcile an account and secure a backup data of your company:
