When your bank and credit card accounts are disconnecting regularly, there are several reasons why this is happening. Don't worry, I'm here to help you.
First, please know that connecting a single bank account to multiple QuickBooks Online (QBO) accounts can lead to disconnections. I recommend linking your account to only one QBO company. If you've determined that you need to disconnect your bank account connected to multiple companies, you can follow the steps detailed in this article for the steps: Disconnect accounts connected to online banking in QuickBooks Online.
After you've ensured that your bank account is connected only to one QBO account, I recommend signing into your bank's website and checking your account for messages, notifications, alerts, or new security requirements. If everything looks good, you can sign in back to QBO:
- Go to Transactions,
- Then click the Bank transactions.
- Select Update.
Moreover, if you have recently changed your bank login credentials, you'll also need to update them in QBO. You can follow these steps:
- Go to Transactions, then Bank transactions.
- Select the tile for the bank account. Then select Edit ✎.
- Select Edit sign-in info.
- Update your info as needed.
- Start another manual download.
Additionally, it's essential to categorize your financial dealings and match existing entries for accurate reporting and tax calculations. Once you've done that, you can reconcile your accounts to ensure they align with your actual statements and maintain balance.
