Potential transition from QuickBooks Desktop 2021 to TechSoup QuickBooks Online 2024

My organization currently has QuickBooks Desktop 2021 and is considering getting QuickBooks Online Plus via TechSoup. How would importing to Online work? Also, how does renewing through TechSoup work? Is the annual rate indefinite, as long as our eligibility reconfirmed? Or would we have to create a new account each year?

Potential transition from QuickBooks Desktop 2021 to TechSoup QuickBooks Online 2024

Hello there, Kevin. I can share information about moving your company files from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before we proceed in moving your data, please know that some transactions, lists, reports, and preferences don't move when importing your QBDT company files into QBO. For more information, you may refer to this article: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

In migrating company files, it's also important to know that you will have 60 days from the time you create your QBO account to move your data. Since you've mentioned you're getting QBO 2024,  it appears that your QuickBooks is up-to-date. Also, please check and ensure that your company file isn't too large for export.

Before moving, generate a Sales Tax Liability report to make adjustment entries after you move:

  1. Go to the Reports tab, then click Vendors & Payables. Choose Sales Tax Liability.
  2. From the Dates▼ dropdown, select All.
  3. From the Print▼ dropdown, select Save as PDF.
  4. Select the folder where you want to save the file, give it a name, and then click on Save.

To continue moving your company file and checking the file size, please read through this article for complete guidance: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

For further assistance with questions about renewing your subscription through TechSoup, please reach out to them directly. Their team will be able to provide you with information about the annual rate and eligibility confirmation process.

Furthermore, you can refer to this article if you encounter any errors while migrating your company data from QBDT to QBO: Fix errors when you move from QBDT to QBO.

You're always welcome to return to this thread for further assistance with transferring your data from QBDT to QBO or other QuickBooks-related issues. I'll be glad to assist. Keep safe.

@KevinLee1984

As I know, your renewal rate will be the same as the regular rate. In my opinion, QuickBooks provided by TechSoup plan is no longer as "special" as they used to be.
