My organization currently has QuickBooks Desktop 2021 and is considering getting QuickBooks Online Plus via TechSoup. How would importing to Online work? Also, how does renewing through TechSoup work? Is the annual rate indefinite, as long as our eligibility reconfirmed? Or would we have to create a new account each year?
Hello there, Kevin. I can share information about moving your company files from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Before we proceed in moving your data, please know that some transactions, lists, reports, and preferences don't move when importing your QBDT company files into QBO. For more information, you may refer to this article: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
In migrating company files, it's also important to know that you will have 60 days from the time you create your QBO account to move your data. Since you've mentioned you're getting QBO 2024, it appears that your QuickBooks is up-to-date. Also, please check and ensure that your company file isn't too large for export.
Before moving, generate a Sales Tax Liability report to make adjustment entries after you move:

Furthermore, you can refer to this article if you encounter any errors while migrating your company data from QBDT to QBO: Fix errors when you move from QBDT to QBO.

Thanks, but I would like to hear from you guys about TechSoup subscription renewal as I have heard two different things about how it works.
As I know, your renewal rate will be the same as the regular rate. In my opinion, QuickBooks provided by TechSoup plan is no longer as "special" as they used to be.

If your organization is eligible, you may receive one Intuit product per fiscal year (July 1 to June 30), and one subscription product within the lifetime of the organization.
