QBO Australia to USA

Company in Australia moved to USA.  Can he still use the same company file? Or does he need to start a new file?

QBO Australia to USA

Yes, he can still access the company file and use his subscription from Australia to the USA, @LynnT.

Since he's from another state, activating Multicurrency is necessary for accessing the company file.

Here's How:

  1. Head to the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Select Advanced.
  3. In the Currency section, select Edit.
  4. From the Home Currency ▼ dropdown, select your currency.
  5. Choose the Multicurrency checkbox and confirm that you understand that you can't undo this option.
  6. Click on Save.

They can also sign up for a new subscription if they want for the US-specific features.

They can also export the Reports and Lists as individual Excel files in a zip.

To do that:

  1. Access the Export data option by clicking on the Gear Icon.
  2. Choose Export data.
  3.  Select the date range on the Reports tab.
  4. Add or remove items from the Reports and Lists tabs by toggling the switch.
  5. Finally, click on Export to Excel.

Once done, they can import products and services into QuickBooks Online (QBO) US account. To

import your list ,follow the steps mentioned in step 2 of this article.

You can check this out for future reference on how you can customize your sales forms in QuickBooks Online.

So, there is an AU version and a US version?  What are the differences between them?

Thanks for getting back to the thread, @LynnT.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) versions vary slightly based on the region they're designed for. Here are some key differences you might find between the QuickBooks Australia (AU) and United States (US) regions.

  • Taxation Laws and Compliance - QuickBooks Online AU will be tailored to Australian tax laws, including GST (Goods and Services Tax), BAS (Business Activity Statements), and other relevant regulations. The US version will focus on US tax laws, such as federal income tax, state taxes, and sales tax requirements specific to different states.
  • Currency - QBO AU will default to Australian currency (AUD), while the US version will use US dollars (USD). This affects all financial transactions, reporting, and invoicing.
  • Language and Terminology - For example, terms like "GST" may be used in the AU version, while "sales tax" is used in the US version.
  • Bank Feeds and Integration - Integration with banks and financial institutions might differ between the two versions due to variations in banking systems and regulations.
  • Payroll - Payroll features may differ significantly due to variations in payroll laws and regulations.
  • Reports and Forms - The pre-built reports and forms available in each version may differ to accommodate regional requirements. For instance, the US version may have reports specific to IRS filings, while the AU version may have reports tailored to ATO (Australian Taxation Office) requirements.

It's essential to choose the version that aligns with your business's location and requirements to ensure compliance and smooth operations. If you plan to create a new company for the US version, check out this page to know the plan that best suits your business: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/pricing/

Additionally, you can use this resource as reference in managing your subscription: Manage billing, payment, and subscription info in QuickBooks Online.

If you have further questions about the difference between QBO US and AU regions, just add them to the thread. I'll be more than happy to help.
